Five Key Supplements
By
Shelby Starnes

1.)
Creatine – by helping to keep muscular ATP (adenosine
triphosphate) stores high, creatine increases performance during anaerobic
activity (such as weight lifting) which means increased strength as well as
muscle.
2.)
Fish oil – omega 3 (EPA/DHA) are essential polyunsaturated fatty
acids and play numerous important health roles such as improved heart and
cardiovascular health, anti-inflammatory properties and increased insulin
sensitivity.
3.)
Green tea (metabotrop) - aside from the many health benefits -
including being an excellent antioxidant as well as an anticarcinogen - green
tea has a host of powerful effects that make it very helpful for dieting. This
includes burning fat directly via beta oxidation, increases metabolism and
improving insulin sensitivity and glucose tolerance. Green tea is also in a
class of natural substances known as adaptogens. Adaptogens are known for their
ability to help the body combat stress and fatigue as well as maintain
homeostasis and well-being.
4.)
Whey/casein – easy, inexpensive “insurance” to make sure protein
requirements are met. This is crucial for success both in gaining
muscle/strength and also preserving it while dieting. A blend of whey and casein
ensures an optimal blend of both faster and slower digesting proteins.
5.)
Multi-vitamin/mineral
– easy, inexpensive “insurance” to make sure
all needs are met – important because many lifters neglect eating an array of
fruits and vegetables.
