I was very excited for the UGSS, I wanted to meet the guys and watch them hit some big lifts.

Here's how my training went:

Max Effort Free Squat

  • bar x 5 x 3
  • 145 x 5 x 1 - Messed something up in my right groin
  • 195 x 3 x 1
  • 235 x 1 x 2
  • 285 x 1 x 1
  • 325 x 1 x 1
  • 355 x 1 x 1
  • 375 x 1 x 1

Added Knee Wraps

  • 415 x 1 x 1 - 15 pound All time PR!

Sumo Deadlift Off Blocks
Started about an inch below knee

  • 335 x 3 x 1
  • 385 x 1 x 1
  • 425 x 1 x 1
  • 475 x 1 x 1
  • 500 x 1 x 1
  • 520 x 1 x 1
  • 535 x miss - fell out of hands at the top.
  • 535 x 1 x 1 - PR

Standing AB Pulldown

  • 4 x 12

Training today was awesome! I unfortunately seemed to get a minor strain in my right groin though. I wasn't properly warmed up, and I paid the price. But I decided I would just be stupid, and continue to train, and I ended up with a 15 pound PR! Going to take some time to let my groin heal up.

I'm very sore after training, but I was excited to be benching, since I was working in on dumbbell benching with EFS's own, Matt Kroczaleski and Christian Carter.

DB Flat Bench

  • 40 x 5 x 1
  • 55 x 5 x 1
  • 65 x 5 x 1
  • 75 x 5 x 1
  • 90 x 3 x 1
  • 115 x 2 x 1

The last set was pretty damn hard, and definitely not "all me." Christian helped me out a little, I didn't quite have it today. My best is 90 pound dumbbells for eight, so this shouldn't have been to much trouble.

Hammer Strength ISO Incline Press
Put one EFS Monster Mini Band, on each side

  • Bands only x 10 x 1
  • 50 + Bands x 5 x 1
  • 90 + Bands x 5 x 1
  • 110 + Bands x 5 x 1
  • 110 +Bands x 12 x 1

Lat pulldown with straight bar

  • 4 x 10

Cable Row with DD Handles

  • 4 x 10

Shrugs

  • 90 x 8 x 4

Seated Tricep Press

  • 4 x 10

Tricep Pushdowns

  • 4 x 10

Awesome day today. The amount of stuff I learned this weekend from watching these guys lift and giving me advice, is just incredible. All of the guys are great people and very nice and funny. I appreciate the guys who gave me some tips and pointers to help out my training. Looking forward to applying it to my training, to get even better for my next meet.
