Rack pulls
I was pissed about the miss, but the 600 is actually pretty good for me right now. Deadlift keeps moving.
Board presses
I still wasn't feeling great, and was a few pounds light, even though I had been eating a ton. I was probably a little sick and should have taken it easy, but hindsight is 20/20 I guess.
Shirt work
I tried this shirt a while back, even going as far as competing in it (posting a 625 bench at 220), but felt it was always a little too big. After putting on a little more upper body size, I decided to give it another go. Here's how it went:
Metal Canvas First Impressions!!!
So far the Metal Canvas gets a big bloated two thumbs up from this whorer of gear!
Bench with chains
First, I really like the shirt and am looking forward to giving it another go next week. Second, it means that I've probably retained a good deal of muscle as I've lost weight.
Squats and deadlift
Of course, as soon as I pulled the 545, Paper jumped right in and doubled it raw just to be a bastard, but I'm so far ahead of where I was just a month ago, I didn't care.
Assistance Work and Lower Back Status
Between this and the higher volume, I'm really excited about this meet cycle.
Max Effort Bench and Squat
Monday was a shirt day, and I was looking forward to taking a new Ace shirt to a touch for the first time. I had previously taken 545 to a 1 board, so I figured 585 would be able to touch.
Holy Crap, I Think My Deadlift is Improving!!!
Big progress with this one, looking forward to the rest of the cycle!
Floor Press
Getting my raw pressing strength back up will just be a question of adjusting to the lower bodyweight and incorporating more raw training.
The World's Worst Rack Pull (And What Now?)
I worked up to 405. That't it. 405. Not because I decide to stop there, but because I couldn't budge 455 off the pins.
The Ed Coan Situation
If you are a powerlifter with internet access, you've most likely heard about the Ed Coan/IPF story that's been making it's way around the internet for the past few days. For those few who haven't heard, or for those who've only heard snippets here and there, here's the gist. Ed can is putting on a […]
New Shirt Break-in!
For the seasoned gear whore, nothing is quite as bittersweet as breaking in a new suit or shirt.
Vacation and more weight loss
OK, not my manliest post, but I'll get back to the training real soon. Maybe even throw on some real gear.
Sick...
of course after all the abuse I put myself though gaining weight, It's fitting that this would happen after a month of eating clean.
Upper back
It's not much, but I will probably add in more days like these to help maintain muscle while I lose weight.
Meet Report and some other stuff (Kinda long).
Thanks for everyone who took the time to read whatever this is.
Last raw day
The 355 was stupid easy, considering I was at a commercial gym with no chalk and crap equipment
Picking up the pieces
Also, since I've decided not to cut weight for Carnage and just focus on the bench, I'm going to get fat. Really fat.
Autumn Apocalypse Meet Report - Bombs Away!
Could be worse I suppose. A bad day powerlifting is still a day spend powerlifting.
General stuff
There really wasn't much to it, as my training is almost completely done, but I did it, so I guess I should include it, lol.
Last Shirt Day!
The 600 came off the board like 135. It may have been the easiest I've ever handled 600 on the bench.
Upper Back
Since I'm starting to wind down my training for the meet, I went a little lighter this time
Shirt Work, With Video
I probably could have done more, but It was already a 25lb pr and it's time to start thinking about recovery. But damn, these felt light!
Benching... Getting dialed in!
So needless to say, a good day would be a huge confidence builder. And a bad day would f-ing suck.
That's it, F the deadlift!
As far as the lower body stuff, I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing as far as addressing raw strength, then transition back to gear 16 weeks or so out from my next meet.
Squat and bench
So just an ok couple of days, but I'm still feeling super confident about the meet next month!
Last week
Anthony out-benches me by about 40lbs both geared and raw, so If my shoulder strength is becoming on par with his, I can start to be optimistic about my bench for next month.
Max effort work
10 lbs better on a lower board. Great day! The weight didn't even feel all that heavy.
Squatting - Raw with suit, briefs, wraps and belt
The 750 was a little hard, but clean. The 820 was actually a bit easier.
This week
Although I'm not at my strongest yet, the shirt was grooving just right and the 635 was pretty clean.
Max Effort Training
Didn't get a ton of pop off the board on the 675, so I pulled the collar down more than I'm used to on the 705, and that did the trick.
Speed work
Started at a plate, and went up to 8 singles with 345. Not impressive I know, but I do these for form and speed.
Max Effort DL and Bench
Either my back would hurt too bad, or more recently I would just shut down and give up. This time though, my confidence was high enough that I felt comfortable with the strain.
Speed Deadlift
I think speed dead are just what the Dr. ordered, so I will continue on with them, waving the weight up for three weeks, then dropping back down.
Shirt bench
The touch was nice and smooth, but by now, my arms were really inflamed and I couldn't drive on the weight like I need to. So although my body was kind of crap, the shirt is doing it's job.
This weekend's squatting
I don't have a pr for this amount of chain, but the last time we box squatted with chains, we used 160lbs of chain, and I hit 510 with just the brief, and 600 with the brief and suit.
Raw squat and bench
I'm gonna be killing my top-end work and want to be as pain free as I can manage.
