I have been competitively powerlifting for over 20 years. Within that time I have competed raw, single ply and multi ply. I hold the highest all time total of 1930 at 148, the third highest total of 2045 at 165 and have broken over 35 world records, over 25 of which I still hold. Through the years in this sport I have learned a great deal from various training methods, met and formed long lasting friends, as well as learned the importance of balancing life, work, and training.

Elitefts accepted me as a team member over ten years ago and I am currently the longest standing still competing powerlifter on the site. I appreciate Dave Tate and Elitefts for giving me the opportunity to learn from and teach others through the Q&A and my training log.

In 2005 I opened Orlando Barbell – a 24 hour powerlifting friendly gym. As well as running Orlando Barbell I designed and sell the Home GHR , the The OBB Power Handles and the Doorway Home Gym, wrote the 12 Weeks to a Bigger Bench EBook, and produced the 12Weeks to a Bigger Bench DVD.

My latest contribution was writing the M2 Method EBook, designed to be the quintessential Raw Powerlifting training manual for beginners to advanced lifters looking to get stronger and prevent injury while incorporating the powerlifts.

Tyler is right on track. Jeff had some stability issues with literally sitting back too far, but recovered well. I have a lot of work to do before nationals, but am ready to get things in order.

Yes, I’ve been dealing with a lot of shit lately, but we all deal with a lot of shit. We’re all fighting our own battles. I just have the opportunity to share mine on a solid forum such as Elitefts where others can hopefully learn from my mistakes as well as my triumphs. I’ll get through this. We’ll train Tank so that there will be no more potential fights with our dogs and I’ll eventually get to the cause of my autoimmune issues.

Tyler Weaver, I love the guy. He’s 20 years old and his whole life is powerlifting. I remember those days, but now I have a business to run, a wife and dog kids to take care of, a disease to defeat, personal training and online clients to attend to, products to ship and keep track of, two meets a year to run, and many many bills to pay. Because of this Powerlifting is no longer the most important aspect in my life, survival is. Trying to achieve happiness is. Trying to help others be happy is. If you’re not there yet you’ll get there one day, or should. Yes, the focal point of my life still revolves around powerlifting far more than most people, but if the gym closes then none of these other goals will be attainable. Anyway, back to the Tyler story. I got a new phone recently and haven’t downloaded Pandora on it yet so on Thursday I had Tyler plug his in. A few minutes later I told Tyler the volume was too low. He said “we can do more accessory work” (or something to that effect). I couldn’t really hear him, so I questioned him then he said “we could do some drop sets instead.” Then I explained I was referring to the volume of the music, not the training volume. Haha it was great. He means well, but not everything is about lifting.

I fart a lot. It’s true, but I freely admit to it when I do. Hell, I have gut issues anyway so I kind of have an excuse. When I got done squatting I headed up to the desk where Tyler Marino was hanging out with me. I was working on entering new members, deactivating members who’s credit cards are no longer going through (this happens on a daily basis), updating my training log (yes, I’m always behind) and whatever other work I needed to get done (no, I’m not looking at porn. I do that at home). Anyway back to the Tyler story. A member who I rarely see walked in and seconds later, while the guy was still standing in front of us since he had just signed in, Tyler said “Damn, did you fart?” Once again, most often the answer to this is yes, but this time it was not. The poor bastard who had just walked in was the culprit. He thought about it for a second then said “Oh, did it follow me in? I’m sorry about that.” Good stuff.
