Sticking with my plan of increasing the barbell weight by 5lbs every week, I decided to switch from two sets of eight to eight sets of doubles to maintain the same amount of volume, but keep the reps cleaner and faster at the heavier weight. The result was great, I was able to focus on the two reps at a time instead of just trying to survive two big sets. I was able to address any technical issues set by set, leaving me more confident.
