Joey Smith is currently one of the top bench pressers in the world and has been ranked in the top-5, top-10, and top-20 for the past 11 years on powerliftingwatch.com. Smith has bench pressed 700 pounds and more in four different weight classes in multi-ply competition, including 700 at 242, 730 at 275, 805 at 308, and 735 at SHW. He has also bench pressed 530 at 275 and 500 at 308 in raw competition. Joey has totaled elite status in raw full power and multi-ply full power. A graduate of Gardner-Webb University, he resides in Nebo, North Carolina, where he owns, coaches, and trains at Team Nebobarbell.
