I have always called Strength and Conditioning...Strength and Conditioning. Imagine that? We have always lifted weights or did Calisthenic movement with our body weight to improve Strength! We also knew to Condition bodies by ways of taxing the Oxygen delivery systems both aerobically and anaerobically. About the time Long Slow Distance Running became popular, mostly due to the research by Dr. David Costill of Ball State and Dr. Ken Cooper U.S.A.F. we began to call Conditioning mostly what it is...Cardio-Vascular Conditioning. Meaning the heart and the vessels necessary to deliver OXYGEN to muscle. Because we are fairly lazy we have now dumb it down so every Aerobic Bunny can tell us how they get up early to grind and sweat so they call it strictly "Cardio" I HATE THAT! You tell me you are doing cardio, and I will gladly accommodate that with popping only your heart because CARDIO means HEART! Fasted Cardio? The fuck does that mean??? Starving Heart? Do you even sweat and pant breathlessly? Do you have a clue about the oxygen delivery system and how it works? Next thing you'll tell me is how you developed the "Combat Chassis" by doing "CORE" training. You barely cover the subject! Today's Training: Good Mornings: Work up to a heavier 10 reps than last week and do FIVE sets GHR: 80 reps in as few sets as possible Reverse Hyper: 4x12 slow and controlled with a monetary pause at full contraction Single Leg Step Up onto a 16" bench: 5x10 I think my hips are ok enough to begin sprints again. Sprint I: 8x10 yards @50% Sprint II: 8x50 yards @50%
Don't Call it Cardio!
