In Last weeks article,

Old Man Conjugate: Address Your Weaknesses I laid out how my training would look for the next few months. And I was a little too aggressive. So in this week’s column, Old Man Conjugate: It’s Ok To Adjust I’ll lay out why I was dumb and what I’m going to do about it.

In case you didn’t read or don’t recall, I am running a modified version of Mentzer’s Heavy Duty Training. This is explained pretty well in my last log so I won’t be repetitive here. It was set up like an old school WSBB template with Max Lower on Day 1, Max Upper on Day 2 and then my 3rd day would have been Bodybuilding/Stay Athletic day.

And, I found out that after Week 1 Day 1 I was in for a rude awakening.

Also, and maybe the weirdest, I was STARVING about 2 hours after training and then all night, and all the next few days. This is not normal for me. And, I was SORE!

Instead of adjusting, I went right back in and did my Max Effort Upper on Day 2 and that just kicked the bag out of me. It’s Ok To Adjust

Moving on to Week 2, I decided to treat myself like I was a client. And also to realize I was not doing an old school WSBB template and that this was new, so maybe I should make a small change.

How progressive of me.

This week, I did my Max Lower on Monday and Bodybuilding/Stay Athletic day on Wednesday. I am going to do my Max Upper tomorrow. I feel like this is the smart move and adheres to Old Man Conjugate: It’s Ok To Adjust.

I’ll tell you, on my Max Lower day I used 90 pounds more than last week, so I got that going for me.

Which is nice.

Here’s the video.

We’ll see how I do tomorrow after realizing it’s Ok To Adjust.

I think it’s going to go well.

Did you miss last week’s log?
