DC Blocks by Derrick Crass, two-time Olympian in the sport of weightlifting.
All things being equal, the most powerful athlete wins. Lifting from blocks allows lifters to correctly place their body and the bar in the optimum position to quickly and repeatedly impart the greatest amount of force with the greatest velocity possible. This violent movement develops huge power output that transfers to many sports, especially weightlifting. Incredible power is developed using blocks vs. lifting from the hang position, usually an inefficient position to begin with. My weightlifting blocks started out at the Belleville Weightlifting Club in 1985 as a series of stacked, unstable wooden 2" x 6"s nailed together to fit my dimensions. Those blocks were lightweight but not interlocking; spectacular crashes happened when I missed a big lift; the blocks, bar, and weights came tumbling down all over the place in a heap.
Today, my weightlifting blocks start out as your scrap plastic. Patented technology uses previously deemed “un-recyclable” plastics in a blending process that grinds the scrap into 1/4" size particulates. The material is processed with patented recycling equipment and ejected in loaves of malleable, warm plastic. These loaves are then placed inside a mold and, using a hydraulic press, the material is squeezed into patented Derrick Crass (DC) Blocks. Each DC Block is cooled while inside the mold and then emerges as one solid, stiff construction with superior impact resistance, strong, stackable, and indestructible.
Each DC Block measures 2" tall x 15.5" wide x 19" long.
Each DC Block weighs approximately 5 kgs (10.5 lbs).

To utilize the products to their fullest please be mindful of the following:
- The new design of DC Blocks relies on a crenellated bumper to allow for greater lateral wall strength on the ends while continuing to provide DC Blocks’ unique interlocking stability front to back and top to bottom. Each crenellation allows sideways force attenuation to avoid sidewall blowout.
- The new crenellated DC Block design will interlock underneath previous version of DC Blocks, but not over.
- Lift from and return the weights in the middle 1/3 of the DC Block, as if the area from which to lift/return is the middle square of a “tic-tac-toe” game.
- Return the weights using control.
- DC Blocks are made with 100% recycled plastic and will not chip, crack, break or rust. Lift in temperatures from 30° to 120° Fahrenheit. Temperatures cooler may increase brittleness and temperatures hotter may lead to excessive softening.
- The DC Blocks warranty is null and void if they are not used in the above fashion and/or if the blocks are combined with any other piece of equipment, such as on top of wooden jerk boxes.
- Your DC Blocks® arrived in interlocking stacks, fitting tightly and securely. They may even be difficult to separate at first. Develop and use your grip strength! Your blocks will loosen slightly over time, but they are supposed to fit tightly and securely. If your grip strength is not yet sufficient to pull them apart, you may have to insert a flat tool of some sort in between the two "problem" blocks. Twist the tool 90º to separate. Then pull the blocks apart with your own bare hands. Before long, your grip strength will improve, or the blocks will loosen and you will no longer need the tool.
- Likewise, your DC Blocks® may occasionally be difficult to re-stack. Employ the "stack and stomp" method for the "problem" block. Stack them together with the problem side slightly separated. Then stomp HARD on them to get them to interlock. Did that work? No? Flip the "problem" block around and stomp on it again HARD! Voila!
DC Blocks® LOVE aggressive treatment. Do not worry; your blocks are strong and virtually indestructible. You will not break them. You can even take a sledgehammer to them.
