Someone recently asked me why I don't compete as much as I used to. With 26 competitions under my belt in the last 7 years that made me think for a second. That's a lot of competitions. So I figured it up and I've competed 3.7 times a year on average. That's a lot of competing.

I find as I get older I need to spend less time competing. And put more focus into less competitions. When I was newer to the sport I needed experience competing and all that comes with it. Now to become better I have certain weak points or events that need to be brought up or I just need to get bigger.

Strongman events are like riding a bicycle to me now. I can get back in the swing of things pretty quick once I add them back in. I want longevity in this sport and in training. Lifting is my passion. This sport is a marathon, not a sprint. So I think the smartest thing I can do at this point is focus on what's going to make me a better strongman competitor. I also have a son, wife and career that come over competing.

This next year I've got 5 different competitions I'm considering. I'll end up doing 2-3 of those if things go as planned.
