Hi kids,
Thanks for reading my log this week.

.

.
I spent an hour writing a 2000 word diatribe about something that occurred at the gym, and Matt won’t let me post it.

.

emergency log

.
Even though he is young, he is wise, so here is my Emergency Replacement Log.

.

.
Matt suggested that I write instead about something that happened last week. And to toss Cody in there too.

.

.

So, in the essence of keeping Dave Tate from answering 2000 DM’s and emails about my perfectly reasonable (to me) Coaching Log, I’ll listen to Matt.

.

.
A little background:

.

.
He suggested that I write about how my friend Eric came by last week and we hung out, did some grip and how it was cool.
Let me explain.

.

.
Last week, Eric Dawson, Pro Strongman and owner of Titan Barbell came by to drop off some extra sticky vinyl he grabbed for me to recover our EliteFTS bench press benches.

.

Eric Dawson

.
Eric came by, we hung out for a bit, laughed, talked and did a little grip stuff, then he left and I went and got steak tips.
Boring right?

.

.
Matt’s angle is that Eric is a former employee of TPS for many years (and a damn good one) and we still keep in touch and have a great relationship even though many would view him as a competitor.
He’s not.

His place is about 5 miles away as the crow flies, but it’s a 20 minute drive. Also, the town we are in has 60,000 people, and the surrounding towns do too.

.

.
That is a lot of people to draw from and more than enough that we don’t need to fight with each other and be enemies.

.

.
I talked about this in the Video Log with Sam Brown, Greg Robins and Jeff Bramhall, which brings me to my next point.
I have had a lot of employees over the past 20 years, most good, some not so good, some fucking bad and toxic and some above average, actually outfuckingstanding.

.

.
Some of them have even opened their own facilities and I am very proud of that, and them.

.

.
Two who come to mind as outfuckingstanding are Greg Robins of the Strength House and Eric of Titan Barbell.

.

Greg Robins

.
I am happy that I had them here and helped develop them as outstanding and well respected coaches.

.

.
I am happy that they now own their own facilities that are doing well and have a great reputation.

.

.
I am happy that we still have a great relationship..

.
You see, in this business there are people who get along and make it better, and there are some who don’t.
I want to be one of the former.

.

.
Matt also mentioned that it is pretty cool to him, that I have so many contacts/relationships with people and they are all good people (I’m paraphrasing). I agree. If you have been doing this as long as I have you better have this, or you are doing it wrong.

.

.
So, there it is, the Emergency Replacement Log-it’s a good message to put out, good energy.

.

.
Let’s all try to put more of that into the world.

.

.
And what about Cody?

.

.
Well, Cody is one of the Team here, he coaches and works the desk, and fixes just about everything.

.

.
Today he is reupholstering the benches, but what is more exciting is that he just smashed a 635 deadlift at 180 pounds.

.

.
Cody follows my TPSMethod for Powerlifting programming and pulled a solid 600 at his last meet about 6 months ago.

.

.
A 35 pound PR is nothing to sneeze at, but a 35 pound PR in 6 months on a lift that was already 3.3 times body weight is AWESOME!

.

.
Enjoy the lift here.
