Another week goes by where I've seen 4-5 rants about how coaches & trainers who “don’t know what they are doing”, “don’t have in the trenches experience” and “are too formally educated” shouldn’t be allowed to call themselves coaches & trainers and it’s bullshit that they get all the clients while the good coaches and trainers who do know their shit are struggling.

I already posted once about this and said.

“If EVERY coach or trainer you feel sucks, doesn’t have the results, experience, or education to do the job…  There are just as many who have BETTER results, education and experience than you do.JUDGEMENT IS A BITCH.

Lets look at this another way. I am sure everyone will agree the day a coach or trainer decides to take payment for their products or services they are  no longer a coach, they are now a business owner.

In most cases a business owner with ZERO business experience, ZERO in the trenches experience, ZERO education out side of maybe reading a couple articles.

They have no clue what the difference is between gross profit margin or a net profit margin.

They have no idea how much it costs to acquire a client.

Their idea of marketing is taking pictures of lunch and posting on Instagram

In fact, when you think about it, using the same logic being used to determine the worth and value of a coach and trainer they really shouldn’t be able to have a business. They are not qualified nor have the experience. To make matter worse many will admit "they know nothing about business and don't want to learn".  They just want to help people get in shape and/or strong. The problem is, like it or not, they started a business the day they decided to sell the product or service.

Keep in mind there are many people who have MBA’s and YEARS  of working experience in business who may be making a fraction of what some of the trainers, coaches and ebook authors with zero business experience make.

Now that's interesting isn't it?

Someone who knows nothing about the trade but making more then those who do.

This becomes very interesting when you look at it from the side of those who’s passion is business not training. I wonder if they think it’s right that someone with zero business knowledge is having more finical success than they are?

I guess the take away is when you start a business you are no longer just a coach or trainer but also a business person. Point being if there are coaches and trainers in the private sector doing better but their training skills are not among the best the odds are their business skills are.

The answer would be for those who are complaining take some time to learn basic business skills. To ignore the business side would be like the business person starting a business with no product or service to sell. It simply will not work.

If they still have NO desire to learn or increase their business skills than that's  okay as well. The answer then is to work for someone else. There are many training centers, gyms. schools, universities and commercial gyms that are always looking for trainers and coaches with a great skill set. If their skill set really is as great as they claim to be in the rants they make they should have no problem landing a job.
