While I'm still nursing my back and trying to show off on The Bench Press, I've had a ball watching Ilya really take off in the last couple of months in training. Several people have asked why he has focused so much on his deadlift lately and it simply that it is the one lift that he needs to improve the numbers on, it transfers over to every single Strongman Event, and he has also been pushing his Log Press but nobody seems to notice.

Heck...nobody noticed he was gone for a few weeks and went to Siberia to train last month and did some NUTTY things while he was there.

We got him the METAL King Pro Deadlift Suit and had to get the largest size that METAL makes. Rumor is that they had to outsource a tent manufacturing company just to put it together and they couldn't make it on orange because it would reflect too much sunlight to be considered "safe for human use" and it has been fun to break in.

Session 1: he pulled 615 for a few reps
Session 2: 3 days later, he pulled 3 easy reps with 705
Session 3: 4 days after that, he pulled this lift, 771

800+ soon...whenever he wants it to be honest. He has promised not to take down my 821 for a month or two though.

And of course he isn't just a pretty face and an Instagram Deadlift Model..he can also press pretty good too.

He is 140/308 x 5. The week before he did 4 reps in about 2 minutes so the goal was to nail 4 in 75 seconds and then take a breath and come back and get the 5th rep when it really matters...when it is hard! And he did!

So give me a little more time and I'll have some PRs to share, but I'm hoping he does too!

"So, how much do you get out of that suit?"
