Congratulations to my 9 year old buddy Dean for having a great second meet at the Iron Brawl at the Iron Compound Gym in Ft. Lauderdale this past weekend! He had to overcome some adversity, but it was a good learning experience since we know what we need to work on.

Dean weighed in at 91.7. He’s grown a significant amount and put on almost 10 lbs since his last meet. We had him open with 35 kgs/77.2 lbs on the squat, but he had a change of directions and repeated it for a good lift on his second. We went to 45kgs/99.2 lbs on his third, which would have been a 22 lb PR. He stood up with it, but was called high.

On bench we opened with just the 55 lb bar, but he jumped the press command. We repeated it on his second for a good lift. We went to 66 on his third, but it proved to be too much for now.

Deadlifts are his best lift and they went just as planned. We opened with his previous best of 55 kgs/121.3, then to 60 kgs/132.3 on his second, followed by a 22 lb PR of 65 kgs/143.3 lbs on his third!

As you can see from his victory dance in the last video, Dean was happy with how his day went. I look forward to continuing to work with him for years to come. Thank you to Rebecca and Chris and the Harris family for giving me the opportunity tor work with Dean.

Thank you to Claudia and Shawn Knowles for running a great meet and helping to make it an enjoyable experience for Dean. Thank you to all of the spotters, loaders and judges as well.
