We had our Daylight Savings Spring FORWARD Time Change last night and I didn't realize it till the clocks changed...so I was freaking late.
So was my wife and sons!
Spent the first hour of my day in bed with my wife, son, and dog...time well spent. Went downstairs to find my son "borrowing" some of my food!
Good tunes on the way to the gym and it all picked up from there!
Super Yoke
speed work with 350 x 65'
460 x 65' x 2 sets
570 x 65' x 2 sets, great speed
- turning a technical and muscular corner here
- If you watch the video you can see me starting to kick with my glutes when I walk which helps me a ton on this event and every moving event as well. Getting a push with my back leg and a stride with my front leg IS HUGE when it comes to shaving time off of all moving events.
"Moving so fast the police came by to clock me..."
Atlas Stones
-3 second pause at the knees
165 x 3 pauses and 1 load
190 x 3 pauses and 1 load
230 x 3 pauses and 1 load
285 x 4 pauses and 1 load (quick on the pauses), Rep PR
310 x 3 pauses and 1 load, PR
- This is huge for me as my goal is to load the 365 stone and I'll need a lot of muscular strength and "another layer" of stone loading muscle to do so SAFELY. Picking the 310 stone and holding it at the most fragile point of the lift is a huge sign that I'm making the right steps in the process. I can see the 345 stone coming soon and the 365 isn't too far away and SAFELY.
Log Press
little warm up then
117.5 / 259 x 3, PR
- Feeling smooth and athletic on this but I'm going to need more lat and tricep strength to match. My immediate goal is a 300 lb log press and I need to maintain a 308 press with a shot at a 331 on a freaky good day.
Deadlift
worked up
250 / 551 + 70 lbs chain x 3, PR (on target for a near 700 raw-ish deadlift)
- Lat isn't feeling amazing but it is holding as long as I hold my body's line is centered and behind the bar. My hamstrings aren't getting super sore here and this is a great sign that I'm going to pull 700 raw again. From there I'll need to work on progressively improving my Training Max (this is what I'm doing now) so that I can get back into full gear SAFELY. Gaining another 5 lbs can do wonders for this as well.
Finished off with some very light lats, biceps, and triceps. I didn't want to do too much of this because I did NONE last week and came in to today feeling amazing! I also know that if I do none I will be heading down a wrong road again. Balance is what I'm seeking here and I'm on the right road!
Came home and enjoyed a lot more family time, even working through the night!
