Wednesday was deadlift day. I was able to do deficit deads for the second time since surgery. With every set of these I feel better. Deficit deadlifts are great for helping with speed off the floor. They are a very important movement in my program. I honestly thought I would never be able to do them again after hip replacement. Im at little over a 3inch deficit now which feels perfect for me. Speed off the floor is a important part of the deadlift in order to be able to get a heavy pull past your knees. The goal is to explode while keeping arms long and all the slack pulled out of the bar. Deficit pulls help with teaching all of that. Be sure to add deficit pulls to your off season program for 6 to 8 weeks.
