I enjoy reading books.  Training books are great of course. What I have really enjoyed reading lately is books that deal with sports psychology, mindset, the human body/physiology, etc.

I've read a few "relationship" books that opened up some ideas as far as the way men and women think and see things differently when it comes to human interaction.  I've read some "self-confidence" books as well as some "therapy" type books to understand the human mind.

As we (the kids and I) were perusing NetFlix the other day, I saw a show called Brain Games. I thought it was going to be things like magic, illusion and puzzles that perhaps the kids would enjoy. As we got deeper into the episodes, we (yes, even the kids) were learning tons about the human brain, how it perceives things, patterns, focus and more.

A few episodes really  poked into the differences between male and female minds. A few episodes talked about younger vs. older brains. Both of these stood out to me as a coach. It opened up my eyes to see even deeper into how the male and female brain works.

Sure, we see it or read it in mainstream articles, but this show dug a little deeper.  And since I actually can understand human physiology, it's pretty interesting.

So why is it that women are more detail oriented?
Whose a better driver and what does that mean when it comes to being focused?
Is older really wiser?  How, why and what can that mean for your coaching skills?
As coaches we agree that women are "more coachable"... why?  And what does that mean for the boys/men we coach?

Not only was the show super interesting and educational, but it was a lot of fun and highly engaging.  My kids (especially my daughter) LOVED it.  Look it up... NetFlix, called Brain Games. I could recap a ton (and may bring up some points throughout my log), but you should just give it a look.
