This is gold. It seems like the age of the garage lifter, training quietly because he loves it or because it gives positive outlet for all the negative stuff that can build up during the day is gone. I know it's not, but we just have so many people lifting in hopes that they can be sponsored it's ridiculous. After interviewing sponsored athletes, I'm convinced that most people would hate the lifestyle they would lead as a sponsored athlete, so they're killing themselves, turning their hobby into a job in vain pursuit of something they'll probably never get and wouldn't like if they did get it. Good to hear a dose of common sense.
