How you feel doesn't matter. How you feel isn't special. What you do, is. . . We're all scared. We're all hurt. We all can fill annals of our own history with our own failures or mistakes. But that isn't what makes you special. It is how you respond to it and how you use this grained knowledge to be better in the future. You're not special because you were born that way, you can be special if you choose to be. You can demand it for yourself it will be demanded of you. . . I can think of many reasons why any one of us should give up, or take some time to recover, or simply just to breathe. But all you need is one reason to keep going. To step out into the unknown and take what you believe to be yours. That right there is why I believe competition to be special. . . There's something to be said about training through the unknown, but it is another beast entirely to step in front of your peers and mentors and say "I've got this". Even if you don't truly believe it to be so, your coach does. Your girlfriend does. Your grandmother does. They may believe in you, even when you can't. And I can't promise that that's enough, but it's more than most. . . I never know what will happen under a heavy weight. Or in front of a camera. Or a conversation. But the thought of what MAY BE is not special. The special thing is what IS. . . So next time go find out.
