KNOWLEDGE IS POWER.....

And the lack thereof is weakness!! I am sick and tired of speaking to other lifters, athletes, or coaches that simply do not know or understand how their own body works. The amount of text related to anatomy and physiology out there is astounding, and it is at a point where you must TRY to remain ignorant if you do not acquire new information. @underthebar Dave always has said if a coach does not ask for a health history, they do not care about you and are a bad coach! I agree wholeheartedly but extend the point further to claim if a coach does not have a basic understanding of physiology and biomechanics, they may care! But they'll never be able to be good for you in the way you need. I don't care how many hours spent under a barbell you have, if you cannot explain why something is occurring you are a charlatan. Inversely, I don't care how much education you have, if you cannot explain why something is occurring outside of a vacuum, you are ALSO a charlatan!

It is up to us as coaches and you as LIFTERS to not only hold others to a high standard, but to also hold ourselves to an even higher one and demand intelligence, pragmatism, and integrity in a world lacking more than all 3. .

The old adage may be, "work smarter, not harder" but the best will work as if their lives depended on it, and will learn with the knowledge that their lives DO.
