It has been a wild month! Just to start the post off, my week began with a serious conversation with a Doctor. He was looking at some images of my body and telling me he knew I wouldn't listen but that my training days were numbered.
Tonight I began looking back on some old files, numbered ones, and found a video from 2003. This video reminded me of why I'm doing what I'm doing. Did I have the best equipment? Heck, I didn't have a good barbell or even a squat rack but I still trained. I didn't know all of the best methods of training so I just trained hard. Nutrition? I knew that I needed to eat a lot of protein and calories and that is exactly what I did.
And I went far. Pretty doggone far.
Now it is 2022, 19 years later and a lot has changed. Or maybe it hasn't.
I can still tell you what the gym smells like. A new jar of tacky is still the greatest symbol of HOPE. My fingers still twitch and my heart beats fast when I think about a big deadlift. "It ain't just what I do, it's who I am..." - Jamey Johnson
