Meana will be competing at the RPS Showdown at nearby CTX this Saturday, July 27th.

Both last week and this past weekend she deloaded and will be taking the rest of the week off. She has very little weight to lose to make the 132 lb. class (only 4 lbs) which will be easy.

Here’s how her last weeks of training went:

Squats:
Week of:
7/7- Opener with reverse mini bands, 2nd and 3rd with reverse light bands
7/14- Deload the week prior to the meet w/around 70%
7/21- Meet week off

Bench:
7/7- Opener off 1 board, 2nd and 3rd off 2 board
7/14- Deload the week prior to the meet w/around 70%
7/21- Meet week off

Deadlift:
7/7- Opener with reverse mini bands, 2nd and 3rd with reverse light bands
7/14- Deload the week prior to the meet w/around 70%
7/21- Meet week off

Here’s how the last of her heavy training went while training at the Elitefts Compound. Dave helped her work on breaking through her mental barriers with maximal weights, which has become her biggest obstacle.

395 and 430 Squat attempts w/reverse light bands:

So I'm sitting on the couch watching disturbing episodes of Black Mirror and I miss a call from Dave, yes Dave Tate. Why would Dave be calling me on the weekend? My Catholic guilt instilled during childhood immediately made me assume I was in trouble.  Seconds later Meana sent me a FB message asking me if I had Dave’s number. What was happening? I called Dave back and realized he just wanted to discuss Meana's training. Thankfully I wasn't in trouble!  We discussed the mind of Meana and both agreed that her biggest obstacle is her self doubt. This happens with many lifters. Even though her body is fully capable of the weight, her mind is holding her back. Using reverse bands or limited ROM to overload, stimulate the CNS, and build confidence with heavier weights is a big part of my M2 Method programming. Dave and I agreed to have her attempt a weight heavier than I had programmed that we both knew she was fully capable of. You can see here that she pulled 425 with relative ease, even though I had programmed her for 410. 350 then 425 w/reverse mini bands:

If everything goes as planned Meana has a good chance of breaking 4 PRs again at this meet. She just has to focus and realize that she’s fully capable of these weights.
