As I discussed in previous posts, the Special Olympics have opted to convert to completely raw (up until now they had allowed single ply suits and knee wraps). CJ has only been training raw for around 2 months now and he’s already coming close to his equipped training lifts. Here he is deadlifting 295 for 2 reps while training to compete in the 66 kg/145 lb class at the Special Olympics Southeast Meet in Georgia on January 12th. He squats and deadlifts in his singlet since he’s used to wearing his single ply z-suit prior to the rule change.

Unfortunately CJ had some sinus issues this past week which negatively affected his strength, but we’re hoping he’ll be recovered and ready to go by this weekend.
