I was doing Peterson step-ups during my own workout the other day and realized it's not an exercise you see very often.  Probably because it's not Insta-glamorous.

But that's ok, because all the cool kids do it off camera. 😉

I have several of my clients use this on and off in their own programming, so I thought I'd make a video to show some really simple ways to progress this exercise simply via range of motion.  And also to show a really common way that this exercise gets messed up.

The first progression is to touch the point toe to the ground so the ROM is smaller.  As the person improves, flatten the foot out a bit so the ROM increase just a bit.  It doesn't take much to notice how much more knee flexion is required.  And lastly, toe up/heel down will be the hardest, greatest ROM.   Be sure to watch til the end for the common mistake that's made!!
