On Saturday, May 25th, we'll be hosting the Third Annual Andy Blackton Memorial Strength Challenge at Orlando Barbell.
In October of 2016 we tragically lost one of our brothers in iron and member of the OBB family, Andy Blackton. Andy had a kind soul, a devout dedication to training, a helpful heart, and had found a profession where he could benefit those in need as a sign language interpreter. He positively affected so many lives. We’re going to make sure that he’s not forgotten.
As much as Andy loved lifting, he almost never had a workout where he didn’t do some form of outdoor activity. We’re honoring Andy by hosting an event with a few enjoyable strength challenges:
Women under 150:
Small tire flip (specific distance for time)
Farmer’s Walk- 40 additional lbs/handle (specific distance for time)
Viking Press- 25 lbs added (as many reps as possible in 30 seconds)
Prowler Push- 50 lbs added (specific distance for time)
Bench Press- ½ BW for as many reps as possible
Women over 150:
Small tire flip (specific distance for time)
Farmer’s Walk- 50 additional lbs/handle (specific distance for time)
Viking Press- 35 lbs added (as many reps as possible in 30 seconds)
Prowler Push- 70 lbs added (specific distance for time)
Bench Press- ½ BW for as many reps as possible
Men under 200:
Small tire flip (specific distance for time)
Farmer’s Walk- 110 additional lbs/handle (specific distance for time)
Viking Press- 90 lbs added (as many reps as possible in 30 seconds)
Prowler Push- 90 lbs added (specific distance for time)
Bench Press- BW for as many reps as possible
Men over 200:
Small tire flip (specific distance for time)
Farmer’s Walk- 140 additional lbs/handle (specific distance for time)
Viking Press- 115 lbs added (as many reps as possible in 30 seconds)
Prowler Push- 140 lbs added (specific distance for time)
Bench Press- BW for as many reps as possible
Each competitor will get a T-Shirt and the top 3 in each class will get a medal.
The minimum donation is only $25 with $50 recommended. Half of the proceeds will go to the National Association for the Deaf (NAD) and the other half to the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation.
