Monday and Wednesday's work was good.  I decided I wanted to squat instead of box squatting.  It won't be an all the time thing, maybe just a 3 week cycle, maybe 6 weeks?  I'll see how I respond.

With all the DB Squatting I've been doing my hip mobility is improving.  Couple that with the lower box I've been using and I'm definitely improving.  As we all know, box squatting is just easy.  Plus, the hamstrings just don't get as taxed.  So I gave it a ride.

Monday Training: Squat

  • SSB Squat: Bar x5/155x5/175x5/205x5/225x5/205x5
  • Dips: 5x3
  • Pull-ups: 5x3
  • FSL (Boring But Big): 5x10@155
  • Dips: 5x5 w/25lbs
  • Pull-ups: 5x5 w/25lbs

I videoed myself so I could see if my hips were all screwed up.  For the most part, I was able to keep them tight.  I got a little too squirrely for my liking with 225.  That's why I dropped back down to 205 for my last set.

The BBB work wasn't heavy, but it was tough.  Without the box to cheat with my hamstrings and hips were on fire, as I figured they would be.  I was sore before the workout was over.  Made for a few rough days.

Wednesday Training: Press

  • FBB Press: 5x5@115
  • FSL: 5x10@95
  • DB Squat: 5x10 w/85lbs
  • DB RDL w/shrug: 5x10 w/70's

I was feeling the squats from Monday, but once I got moving it felt good.  Now, I'm feeling the 2 days of squatting and the RDL's.  Again, nothing bad, just feeling like I did some work.

I have a few things going on this morning and then Momma Rhodes is flying in this afternoon.  Hopefully, I'll get in some Trap Bar work before I have to get on the road.  If not, life's beautiful deload will take effect and I'll get back on track next week.

I also did some easy conditioning on Tuesday and Thursday.  Tuesday was a quick 1/2 mile walk with the weighted vest.  I didn't have time for more.  Thursday I sat on the bike and rode for 30 minutes.

One more week and football camp starts.  Life goes from busy to ridiculous.  Mostly because a lot of football camp is a tremendous waste of my time.  Lots of standing around and everything that I have to do is so spread out that it's an ever bigger tease than a waste to go home and relax.

But, at the end of it all I get to watch football , so life is only getting better.
