I've FINALLY settled on a program set-up for my training.  It's been a long, arduous road, but I'm settled in, nicely.

I'm using Jim's Krypteia Program as my base of operations.  I have modified it to suit my needs and abilities to perform the work.  For one cycle (3 weeks) I'll train 4 days per week.  After that I'll go back to 3 days.

The main lift is done throughout the whole workout.  The assistance work is alternated each time.  In case that doesn't make sense...

Squat set, DB Incline, Squat set, T-bar, etc...

This was Week 1's festivities.

Monday: Squat

  • SSB Box Squat: 185x5/205x5/225x5, FSL: 5x5@185
  • DB Incline: 5x10@50
  • T-Bar: 5x10 w/2 plates

I moved my box down one notch (EFS box).  What a difference.  My hamstrings and glutes were on fire until Wednesday.  Nice change.

Tuesday: Bench

  • FBB Bench: 10x5@135
  • DB Squat: 5x5@70
  • DB RDL w/ shrug: 5x5 w/70's

Thursday: Trap Bar

  • Trap Bar: 185x5/205x5/225x5, FSL w/shrug: 5x5@185
  • DB Incline: 5x10@60
  • DB Row: 5x10@70

Friday: Press

  • FBB Press: 10x5@95
  • DB Squat: 5x5@85
  • DB RDL w/shrug: 5x5 w/70's

Because I can't train very heavy I'll add the Prowler or Stadium Stairs with the vest back in for conditioning at the end.

I feel really good.  We haven't set a date yet for the NOV Summer Edition, but it'll get figured out.

I'm thinking about running Jim's Krypteia Program with some of my athletes this summer.  I just have to decide if it'll be with all the football players who stay in the summer or just the incoming freshmen.

I'm leaning towards the freshmen.  I'll be able to run it for 4 weeks in July, then through camp for about a month or so, then all season.  That'll give me a lot of time to see how it all plays out.

I'll talk with Jim and figure out the best way to implement it.  He offered to come down for a few days and get things rolling (Maxes, Training Maxes, organization, etc...)  Could be a fun little experiment.  And, it fits right into my belief system - as long as they are training they're going to get better.
