I found myself getting suckered into watching a CJ Murphy video the other day. That doggone Spud Marc Bartley will get me every time! I was sitting on a master plan to improve my pressing and I began listening to them talk about the struggles of a Has Been and how they suggested a Vintage Lifter to reverse band the heck out of their bench press and add a Shoulder Saver Pad and maybe even a shirt to their routine. It came across like they were joking a little but the more that I thought it about A LOT of it at this point in our lives is finding ways to have fun and stay excited about training.

I've benched 441 raw, close grip, before so it is hard to get excited about a 2 plate bench when I'm in there. But I can reverse band the heck out of things, use a Shoulder Saver Pad (which actually does feel good), work some weak points and have some fun all at the same time. And then I added my shirt, which I freaking love, and next thing you know I have 5 plates on the bar and I'm excited.

Yes, I know that it doesn't mean that I'm stronger or that I can bench 5 plates BUT a strain is a strain, a struggle is a struggle, and I got extremely sore from this session (my upper back, lats, hams, triceps especially). In the end...if I get stronger at this then all of my pressing will have gone up as well!

So on a rough day...this ain't all bad!
