At the Whethams!

Matt: Shane, what is your plan today?
Shane: To squat heavy fast
Matt: How heavy?
Shane: As heavy as Ken is going.

That was how I decided what I was going to do. I don't get a chance to squat in a monolift very often. So, I was going to take advantage of it. (That is about to change thanks to my client Brenda Banning!)

Ken was working up to his opener for the upcoming RPS Canadian Conflict meet. I was going to take the same as him so we didn't have to change the plates as much. I'm slowly ramping up for the Arnold with the exception of a squat Demo at the SWIS Symposium in November!

My warm up consisted of a lot of flossing my right knee and ankle as they have been pretty beat up lately.

My squats went like this:

Bar x 5
1 plate x 3
3 plates x 3. Added Ace "briefs"
5 plates x 2. Added Ace Suit
7 plates x 1
820 lbs for a single [Video]

This doesn't seem like a lot of volume. It's not. But, the day was also filled with wrapping 10 sets of knees, spotting and loading and coach like a mad man. We were lifting for over 3 hours. It was awesome! Some guys don't understand what it means to be a part of a team and left right after their squats were done. That pissed me off a lot.

When it was all said and done, it was a great day. Shannon did her crazy shit. Ken hit his opener. Matt learned what his opener was and that he have been squatting high in training haha. Jack and Aneta got a great lift in using Swede's 5th set protocol. Sheri didn't kill anyone for not pushing in their chairs. It was a great weekend.

Shannon and I are listing our condo and I will be taking off a couple more days this week. But, by Thursday I should be back into the swing of things!
