Overhead Day

I'm not sure what I want to do with my training yet in terms of structure.  I have just come back from basically 2 weeks off, the longest hiatus in over a decade.  Thankfully it wasn't complete inactivity since I did compete in a highland games, do one and only one quick body weight and band workout, and do a few recovery sessions of treadmill walking and stretching when we were staying in hotels.  Plus we did a poop load of walking everywhere.  We did do some driving and use public transportation, but even in spite of this there was a lot of walking.  For example: one morning we drove from our rental house to go to Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness.  When we got there, the parking lot was already full and they had workers turning cars away from entering.  So we drove around for a while and finally found the closest place to park, which was still over a mile away with lots of uphill and downhill between us and the castle.  We took the tour, explored a little, took lots of pictures, hit the gift shop, then had to repeat the walk back to the car.  It might not sound like much, but it was a lot more walking all the time than we are used to here in the USA.  But I digress.  I was eager to get back in the gym and get back on a normal schedule and used to the east coast time zone again so without yet having decided on a definite course of action, I just wanted to get in some work and see where I'm at after my layoff from my normal exercise routine.

1x225

2x245 - I'm ashamed to say that this felt really heavy and really difficult.

8x3x195 - Getting in some volume with light weight made me feel only marginally better about the difficulty of 245 measly pounds.

I died on the last set of each of these exercises.  This was all I could manage to do today.  I am jet lagged as hell, possibly getting sick, coming back from 2 weeks off, and I feel like a whole different, much more awful, person.  I know I'll be back to normal in a few days to a week (at least I damn well better be!), but today the training did not make me feel better, it just made me worry that I've lost 30 lbs of muscle and replaced with with 28 lbs of fat, since I somehow managed to come back 2 pounds lighter than when I left after 2 weeks of eating with questionable meal timing, frequency, and content.
