It's been a month since my failure at the meet and it's time to start doing some barbell work. I didn't feel like I did anything to warrant a break but it is necessary downtime in the attempt to prevent injuries.
Saturday 01.11.2020
box squats - used buffalo bar - box set 1" above parallel
worked up to 425 for several sets ranging from 5 reps to 8 reps per set
stiff leg dumbbell deadlifts
worked up to 75's for 3 sets of 8 reps
cable crunches
4 sets of 20 reps
Sunday 01.12.2020
barbell bench - all work done to boards
2 board- worked up to 365 for 2 sets of 3 reps
4 board- worked up to 405 for 2 sets of 3 reps
back supported seated barbell military pin press (yep its a new one for me)
press was about 3" to lockout
worked up to 395 for 2 sets of 3 reps
low pulley cable rows
130 for 5 sets of 20 reps
Squats felt good on Saturday and the bench work felt awful on Sunday. My shoulders are strong, triceps are better than I thought but my bench sucks. In speaking with Todd he thinks its a lack of timing when transitioning from my chest to triceps during the press. In other words, I forgot how to bench.
