So many people out there think that they are doing everything right in order to achieve their goals while only a select few are actually progressing actively towards where they want to be in life. A big thing people do, and I'm not exempt from this is to have a bias for your own self and assume that everything that you are doing is right. This is due to the fact that we are all the main characters of our own stories. However so many people benefit and truly reach further levels of success and understanding when they can get away from that personal bias and understand the many other perspectives that there may be out there.

I made a Facebook post today about metabolic damage not existing in the traditional sense of what it means. People on both sides of the argument can generally get along but as soon as any opposing side shuts down the other and refuses to listen or refuses to observe what the other has to say that is a defeat not only for learning but for human nature in general. Conventional science only becomes conventional after research and discussion of many many years and by eliminating this discussion we are all doing a disservice to ourselves.

Aspects of this can be observed in powerlifting training as well. Anyone who follows my training log knows that I can recover very very quickly and I do well with high-frequency high-volume training. This is the object opposite of the West side or conjugate method and many of those supporters would vehemently opposed the way I train. Along with some of my associates wood have differing viewpoints from the West Side guys. However the best of each side would be willing to hear what the other has to say and could understand and comprehend that although they may not want to apply those principles there could be a case where they could be applied successfully. That's what it means to be a professional and to be a compassionate human being at the bottom line.

I guess what I wanted to get at in this blog post is that there are hundreds of thousands of ways to skin a cat, there are hundreds of thousands of ways to get a bigger total, and there are hundreds of thousands of ways to be a better coach. One way may be better for most people but one way systemically cannot be the best for everyone. And the best professionals and the best athletes in any sport we look at can respect that fact and can apply the best of each varying House of opinion to build their own brand and their own style to the best of their ability. The demonization of one does no good for everyone else.
