After sustaining multiple low back issues the past year, I'm not focusing on being a bench press specialist for the next year or so (both raw and equipped). I'm currently just trying to increase muscle mass and keep my low back healthy and give it time to rest and recover.

Tuesday afternoon I got in a crazy leg workout. For whatever reason, I had a ton of energy and was just ready to go. I had a general plan of what I wanted to do, but once I got to the leg press, I decided to let loose and really get after it. Considering I'm really still trying to keep my leg strength up as much as I can, I figure I need to find other ways to challenge myself (a la Dave Tate). Sessions like this are the days I just put the headphones on blast and check out. A really fun training day, and a few awkward days of moving.

Items Used in this Training Session

Warm Up
10 minutes on the stair climber

A1) Seated Leg Curls
6x6
*Only 20 seconds of rest between sets.*

B1) Horizontal Hack Squat
6x6
*Rest was kept short again, but not timed. I just waited until I felt I could barely squeeze out rep number 6 again.*

C1) Close Stance Leg Press
2x30
1x50; then 2 rest/pause sets
*The last set with the rest pauses was absolutely brutal. After the 2x30 I just pulled one plate off per side and went to town on the final set. I was basically done for at this point.*

D1) Pull Throughs
3x20

E1) Walking Lunges
1 set of max distance
*This was incredibly difficult with just bodyweight at this point.*

F1) Hack Squat Calf Raises
4x12-15
F2) Ab Machine
4x15
