I'm currently training for the 2019 USPA Nationals in Columbus, Ohio. After dropping a couple weight classes, this meet will be second showing at 198 and real return to raw powerlifting after a couple years wearing gear.

Another good squat day in the books! Should be about the end of the higher volume stuff. Building really good work capacity with this and getting my raw technique figured back out. Squat - 2 x 5 at 555 Front Squat - 2 x 8 at 265 using the SS Yoke bar backwards. This is the only way I can tolerate front squats, this actually feels pretty good. Seated SSB GM  - 3 x 12 at 155. Funny that the week before this showed up in my program we were talking about the merits of the good morning in the gym and how much the seated variation SUCKS. The FBI agent in my phone must have tipped off Casey. Jerk. Quad Extensions - 3 x 12. Casey had originally programmed a reverse lunge, however I substituted these. Last year I had some pretty serious hip pain that my chiropractor eventually theorized was the result of unstable single leg work. While I know I need to fix that problem, my hips feel great and I'm not taking a risk of messing them up again. Banded Kettlebell swing - Monster band + 100, 5 x 10 Goblet Squat - 3 x 15 with 100 pound DB TKE - 4 x 25 with average band Side Planks - 3 x 20 seconds per side These Sunday sessions are brutal. It's fun though, the work has been good. Burgers

A few weeks ago we were talking about the best burger in Kalamazoo. Typical conversation between 3 fat guys and 1 formally fat guy after squatting. While listening to our conversation, Chelsea suggested doing a tasting, a food crawl of sorts. Of course the fat guys all latched on to that idea.

Saturday we ate. We ate from 4pm-9pm and it was glorious. Kalamazoo isn't the most cultured town but it does have some great dinners and a bunch of breweries that all have good food. We ended up going to five different places and order a couple meals to share among the six of us. My wife and Chris's fiance get a pass on bowing out early, but Cody, the world's worst fat guy quit before burger #5. Sissy. This eating was not about being hungry.

Best Burger - Rickard Royale at the Crow's Nest. A bacon cheeseburger smothered in sausage gravy. A fat man's wet dream.

Best Cheap Place - Burger Bro's. Great greasy dinner, maybe the best beef of everywhere we went.

Best Side - Cosmic Fries at Hopcat. By far the best fries of the night.

Not a cheat meal that I would do every week, but this was super fun.
