Things went a little better today since I pulled off blocks at Bruce Mason's urging. Still had to try and hold my own since Jesse decided to pull it for 8 reps which put me at a disadvantage since his lockout is around 3 inches off the 4" blocks.

I learned a new word at the bus stop today that was used in casual conversation and had to be looked up by an English teacher. I feel I'm an educated person and in my 44 years I've never heard this word used in any setting or in any book I've ever read. I had to ask 17 people what the word meant before I found someone that knew the definition. Perhaps I need to read more. That word is Pernicious - having a harmful effect, especially in a gradual or subtle way.  

I guess you could say that powerlifting is pernicious in my case?
