Block 1, Week 6, Day 4 - Events @ BSG
I stopped by Brute on the way to Richmond today to try out a couple of the events for my upcoming competition there in 3 weeks. They got a new, heavier stone for the HWs to use for the shouldering event and I was not sure about the accuracy of the weights I was using on my attempt at a chain drag simulation. Plus I wanted to do an actual Conan's Wheel instead of a yoke zercher carry. I did all of it and it was all kind of good, but felt very terrible.
Conan's Wheel
2x1 lap x 350
2x1 lap x 560
1 lap x 770 - Not bad, not bad at all!
I did 770 because I thought that was my comp weight, but it turns out it was only 700. I stopped at 1 lap in order not to completely destroy myself for the other 2 events i wanted to train. This was a nice confidence booster.
Odd Stone Shouldering
3x155 - Gross
2x170 - It was here I realized that warming up for this is stupid because all the stones.
3x223 - All reps were different feeling, but at least I can do the competition weight.
3x1x223 - I tried to string together another triple, but I kept missing my second rep.
Chain Drag
40'x670/40'x840 - This was the most brutal backward drag I've ever done ever. I'm certain it was not finished in under 60 seconds, but at least I know what I'm in store for. This wiped me out so badly that it took me close to 20 minutes to get the chains put away after this.
After I finished training I headed west to Richmond for the Central Virginia Sports Performance Seminar put on by University of Richmond S&C Coach Jay DeMayo and sponsored by EliteFTS, among others.
