Block 12, Wave 2 - Throws & Cleans

Holy shitsnacks I suck balls at throwing weight for distance.  Granted this was the first time I have ever attempted it and I am trying to teach myself based on written and video instructions, but still - damn.

Shotput

6 throws each side x 16

First 3 sets each arm were scale throws, second 3 sets each arm were with a glide.  I need to learn how to spin, but I decided (rightly) that I didn't need to throw that much new stuff at myself all in one day.  These were far from great, but compared to what followed, they were a highlight reel.

Weight For Distance

10 throws x 28 - Right side only

Wowwwwww.  I could not have sucked more unless I chucked the light WFD through the windshield of my truck, and even that might have been better than what I did.  I was all over the place high and low, uneven turns, inconsistent release directions and angles, and even fell down a couple times.  Based on my experience throwing discus many moons ago, I feel like my biggest problem is staying ahead of the weight when I'm spinning cause I am losing what little momentum I am able to generate before I even release the handle.

Cleans

complex x 45

3x95

2x145

1x185

1x235

1x245

1x255

3x1x265

Everything felt horrible today with the small caveat that the 2nd and 3rd sets with 265 felt better than the first set.  WFD really cornholed me.  I ended training after this because I had really awful headache that I think I gave myself from cranking my collar bone up into the side of my skull on one of my weight for distance atrocities.  It had gotten worse throughout the duration of my falling all over the place outside and continued to hurt more and more during cleans.  This ended up lasting all night and half of the next day, but finally went away in time for me to feel better for my friend Mark's wedding on Friday.
