First of all, happy new year everybody. I'm very excited for this next year and the competition plans I have lined up along with some new business and career ventures I'm gonna be getting into!
And don't get me wrong, I love resolutions and I love the theme of New Years of making the next one even better than the last. However, so many people know that resolutions don't stick and too many people try to do too much too fast. One of the mentors of many people on this site, Vincent Dizenzo, made a great post about his own weight loss journey recently and essentially stated if you can't stick to something for a year, you are better off not doing it as it will only lead to discouragement. You can read about it here https://www.elitefts.com/coaching-logs/operation-be-less-fat-the-single-best-piece-of-advice-i-can-give-for-getting-in-shape/
See, the problem with resolutions is that they seem to be a temporary thing. They come, and go, and they leave you with no guidance as to where to go from there. That is where a portion of the word comes in that means SO MUCH MORE than anything else I can say. Having RESOLVE to continue on according to your plan, and realizing that we all are the weak bastards that WILL screw up and WILL fall off the wagon at some point. None of us are perfect, and we will all sweat and stumble at some point. AT THIS POINT it is incredibly important to realize that it is normal! We need to have the discipline, and more importantly the SELF RESPECT to stand up for what we believe and what we have decided to become and get right back on the horse, no matter how hard you were just bucked off.
Remember the week before Christmas I hit a body-weight low? Guess where I fucked up and got really discouraged? RIGHT AFTER THAT! Christmas cookies got me man! But that's okay, because I'm right back on the train working towards the goals I have set out for myself. I did not spiral off and give up, because I try to have the amount of dignity and self respect I hope I can instill in anyone that reads these blogs. You're worth more than the horrible things you think about yourself, and you can BE MORE than what you think you can.
There will be doubters, "haters", and all around asshole fucks that don't want anyone to be successful because they are stuck in hate themselves. It is up to you, me, and anyone else who can be touched like this to be the difference and to live, learn, pass on, and SHOW people through our demonstration of how we all can be better version of ourselves.
This is not meant to be a rah-rah motivation post, but if it needs to be that, then so be it. You are worth more than a resolution. You are worth more than a temporary version of yourself. Place value in WHO YOU ARE, and WHAT YOU DO, and if you do stumble (which you will) continue on the path you have laid out for yourself. That is how you get better and how you change the lives of other people in your world. One man can't change the world, but a man that inspires others can do a whole hell of a lot.
