I have been having problems with my deads for the last year or so falling either forward or backwards at lockout. I've smoked PR's to the very last inches of lock out(home free) and fell with I was locked out. I looked to Coan and Goggins for advice on how to fix the problem. Steve me advice related a little more to training and Ed gave me some form tweaks. Steve told me to hold on the bar a little longer at lock out and not to drop to bar when I finished a rep. He wants me to lower the bar with control. On all reps in training not just the heavier sets. Ed's advice was to keep my hips closer to the bar. I'm not sure it looks much different than my other deads, but I am making a conscious effort every reps to pull my hips closer to the bar.
PR time! I had no goals today other than pulling straps up in my single ply suit to see where I was because I start prep for Relentless next week. I decided to use our kilo plates and not know the weight on the bar until I maxed out. I had my team tell me the weight after my final pull. My final straps down pull was 810 which is more than I have pulled starps up before, and I ended with 860lbs straps up for a 38lbs PR regardless of ply. This gives me much more confidence in my life time goal of pulling 900lbs. Its very doable, someday!
Deathlifts:
*I don't know the weights I jumped because I just added kilo plates till they ran out, and then used regular pounds plates.
-once I felt warmed up I did singles up to 810lbs straps down
-one set straps up with 860lbs
*I had no clue how heavy I was getting up to. I knew that I was getting close to a PR because everyone in the gym stopped what they were doing and were watching me on my second to last set of 810. I guessed my last set was a PR but I had no clue it was by that much. We are all headcases I guess!
