I haven't always enjoyed the squat. For years my favorite lift was the deadlift but recently I've enjoyed squatting more. Probably because my squat has been going well compared to my other two lifts and also the elusive 1,000 pound squat is still a goal of mine.

Todd was in from out of town so I decided to free squat today. I haven't free squatted since July....

 

squats - wore Metal Ace briefs

worked up doing triples to 600

690 for a double

740 for a single

 

deadlifts

worked up to 515 for a set of 5 reps

 

reverse hypers

210 for 3 sets of 15 reps

 

hanging leg raises

2 sets of 20 reps

 

I was very pleased with how the squat went and felt like I had more in the tank. Steve talked some sense into me and told me to shut it down after 740. Since I wasn't getting ready for a meet and hadn't free squatted in months there was no reason to push it any further. Smart decision...thank you Steve.
