As the title says I kinda sorta did raw benching today. On my non-geared benching weeks I will be lifting sorta raw. This means that I will primarily be using a sling shot and either a 2 board or a combination of both working exclusively on lockout. This will also be done using close grip, wrist warps, elbow cuffs and nose torque. So not really raw but sorta....

I am also doing this for those that are not aware to give my shoulders a break. It is a high possibility that one day I will need a shoulder replacement or two and Lord knows how many Cortisone shots i have taken throughout the years to mask the pain from high millage heavy lifting for twenty five years. And don't let me forget I have a torn labrium and a torn rotator cuff. Oh yeah and the doctor said I have a serious case of bursitis and tendinitis in both shoulders. So I am literally falling apart but I am doing all I can to work around these multitude of problems that I have in my upper body.

I do realize the days of benching in the mid five hundred raw and over eight hundred pounds multiply are long gone. The injuries, the millage and my age have taken hundreds of pounds away from me in my bench press unfortunately. But my will and determination has not been deteriorated at all. I still have some goals that I want to accomplish before I hang my gear whore equipment on the old coat rack forever. Nobody beats father time but I am doing my best to play hide and seek right now.
