Upper @ Brute

So apparently when you think you might be getting a cold from frying your CNS over the weekend during your first strongman comp in a long while, doing a prowler mile might not be the best thing for your recovery.  I had a slight head cold Wed and Thurs last week, but ever since doing the prowler mile on Thanksgiving I've had a wicked awful cough as they say in Bah-ston.  So bad that I chose not to train events while I was home over the weekend to let myself rest and recover.  This may seem like a stupid choice and under normal circumstances I would have said the same thing, but the key factor here is my clinical affiliation at the hospital down in Norfolk.  I am required to be there for a certain amount of hours to fulfill my obligations for school and if I miss a day or am sent home then I have to make up that time somehow and with less than 3 weeks to go, that doesn't give me much wiggle room in terms of coming in on weekends (which would also ruin my ability to train and even worse because I get to train at Brute while I'm down here!).  And since my apartment lease runs out the morning of my last day of work, I'm also not trying to have to check into a hotel for a few days at triple or more the daily rate I'm paying now to make up work that I'm already paying for because I get school credit for it.  So I chose the lesser of 2 evils and haven't trained since Thanksgiving in an effort to get well.

So tonight I set 2 questionable PRs.  First, I realized while setting up for benching that I have either strained my upper abs from coughing so much/so hard or they are massively sore right at the upper insertion on the ribs.  Either way the effect was the same that I had to modify my setup slightly so I was much less tight on the bench since pressing with an arch causes even more stretch there.

The second PR was after I got back to my apartment.  I farted and it sounded like the final bellow of a dying yak.  I'm pretty sure I've never made butt noises like that before and honestly I hope it's the start of a new trend because that would be quite a party trick.

The weight of balance of the old elitefts swiss bar (which I used at Brute today) versus the new elitefts American Press Bar (which I have at home) is interesting.  I definitely prefer my new AmBar, but I'm not sure if it's just because I've been sick and had to modify my setup, or because everything felt off today.

I had to stop here because I started coughing and couldn't stop and in addition to feeling it pulling in my upper abs I also have been coughing so hard that I give myself massive headaches and then every time I cough it feels like my brain is exploding.  I wonder if you can give yourself a brain aneurysm from coughing, but I'm not about to google that shit to find out cause that would be terrifying.
