Big Jon started training with me when he was in high school his senior year. After a couple years of playing D2 college football at Mars Hill College and a stint in the Navy he came back home and joined back up with me. He has never looked back. Jonathan is a special athlete. Big, strong, fast, athletic and very gifted. In the last few years in powerlifting he has accumulated 3 raw full power elite totals in 3 different weight classes, won several powerlifting meets and set a few NC state records. I felt after all this it was time to put him in some multiply gear and test the waters. In only 12 short weeks of training in multiply we decided he was ready enough to jump in and do a meet. 12 weeks is not enough time to master multiply gear but he was doing well with it and having fun in the process. We had some old hand me down gear that did not fit him great with 100,000 miles on them but we set the projections numbers and went to work. His squat technique is still needing work but as you can see he destroyed everything we put on his back at the meet. He missed 700 pounds on the squat but only because the bar rolled off his back at the top of lock out. There was no strength issue what so ever. His bench was good and his pull was good. Both done with 10 year old multiply gear. We plan on getting him a new shirt for the next training cycle. He is now hooked on training and competeing multiply and we will be looking for an elite multiply full power total next meet this year. Congrats to you Big Jon! Here is what he did:
8 for 9 on attempts!
1st place mens open 275 weight class full power multiply
Set New SPF State record for full power deadlift multiply
