Sgt. Brandon Lewis has been with Team Nebobarbell for a few years now and during this time he has served our country for 8 years as a Military Police Officer and served in Iraq for a year. Brandon is one of several veterans that train at Nebobarbell. I am very honored to have them all train with us and very proud of each of them for what they have done and the sacrifices they have each made for our country. Brandon is currently the only active duty team member we have now. He stays very busy week to week with military assignments but still makes up for days missed at the gym. Up to this point he has only done 2 raw full power meets. A few months back he (and Jon) decided they wanted to start training in multiply. We gathered up some hand-me-downs for a squat suit, briefs and a bench shirt and got him started. The first thing I noticed as I am coaching and teaching him how to use gear was in the deadlift. Immediately he looked like a fish in water when pulling sumo in gear. Brandon was a mid 500 pound raw puller conventional style but with the sumo stance and multiply on he jumped weight very fast. I trained Brandon along side of Jon for 12 weeks in their old wore out multiply gear. In those 12 weeks not everything was learned that was needed but enough to get them on the platform to test the waters in a meet. Brandon had a great first full power multiply meet. He competed in the 242 weight class - FIRE/POLICE/MILITARY division to go after several SPF state, National and World records and that he did. Here is a run down of what he did in his very 1st multiply full power meet with 12 weeks of training:
