My training sessions have been put together based on how I'm feeling each training day. While I don't recommend this to many people or very frequently it is occasionally beneficial for an experienced lifter during the offseason. While it is always important to pay attention to what your body is telling you, and not to ignore pains or fatigue, it's almost always better to have and stick to a plan for a training session than it is to just show up and do some things. I plan to compete again in December so right now I'm trying a few different movements, testing some different sized gear and identifying weak points. What I've figured out recently is that my body is imbalanced and I need some unilateral work, core work and to work my stability/core a lot more. I'm making adjustments to my bench set up and moving my feet from tucked to out in front of me. Leg drive has never been a strong point of mine and if I hope to get another bench PR I'm going to have to master it. I've had a lot of success using the Metal Ace gear and I'm staying in it but training in some larger sized gear so that I get some support and the groove is the same but having to do more work on my own. Once I put the smaller and tighter gear back on I should be much more stable and able to move more weight. Time will tell, December is steadily approaching and I fully intend on my next meet being my last.
