Today was week 1 of my secondary lower body day. I'm going to do some narrow stance pause squat variations for 3-4 week cycles because I've seen them give me some good carry over to my conventional deadlifts and it'll contrast my wide stance box squatting on my primary squat day. Still keeping things light (following the whole "start too light" mantra ala Jim Wendler) and doing a lot of reps right now. Here's how today broke down:

A. Walking Lunges Around Track - 1/10 mile

B. Lying Machine Leg Curls - 3x12

(I've found doing some light movements before squatting when I'm further from a meet is a good way to get warmed up so I can take bigger jumps in my main movement, and it's a good way to get extra work for a priority bodypart)

C. Beltless SS Yoke Bar Pause Squats - 4x10 w/ 205lbs

D1. Dead Stop Bent Over Barbell Rows - 4x10 w/ 235lbs

D2. GHR Ladders - 4x5

E. Single-Leg Leg Press - 4x12 each leg

F. Cable Ab Pulldowns on Lat Pulldown - 4x10

...With those pause squats (and raw squats in general) I've always had some issues with my adductors (inside muscle of the leg). Even with light weights after a few sets I'll start getting really bad cramps to the point I strain something if I keep squatting. Squatting in briefs wide, or wrapping my leg with a knee wrap to put pressure on the muscle prevents this, but I wanted to ask my EliteFTS Teammates for their advice. Here's a summary of what some of them suggested:

1) Don't be a pussy (pretty much everyone)

2) Keep using briefs whenever possible (Thomas Deeble & Clint Darden)

3) Do light adductor work and progress slowly (Harry Selkow)

4) Continue to wrap the leg with a spare knee wrap and be wise about WHY I'm doing the raw close stance squatting and HOW I implement it (Clint Darden)

5) Put an emphasis on contrasting the wide-stance and abduction-heavy movements in my training with working the opposing muscle groups with assistance work (Alex Cortez)

..I'm always thankful for my teammate's input with things like this. I got some good re-enforcement for what I was already thinking, and some new thoughts for things moving forward.
