October 15 - Squat/DL
Stopped by my old stomping grounds, Lightning Fitness, for this training session. I live about an hour and a half from the fire academy, and we are released for the weekends on Friday's during rush hour. The typical way I take home takes me through 3 metro areas with horrendous traffic. To avoid beating my head into the steering wheel for up to 3 hours trying to get home, I'm going to be hitting my Friday workouts at Lightning which is just a short ride from the fire academy. Can't believe it took me 2 months of being in training to realize this.
Anyways, this was one of the most encouraging lower body sessions I've had since I started my career training. Here'/ how it went down:
Single Leg / Double KB RDL
6x10 with ~55 lb KB's in each hand, can't remember the exact kg conversion.
Sumo Deadlifts from 1.5" Mats
565 8x1
This was the crispest my sumo deadlift has ever felt. Everything felt dialed in and timed perfectly. Granted, I still haven't worked up to an appreciable amount of weight yet to really test if sumo is for me. But given the short time span I've been working with it and my current training circumstances, this was great progress to see.
Cambered Bar Squats
585 for 4 sets of 2
Giant Sets:
Single Leg Press - 4x15
Single Leg Hammer Strength Single Leg Curl - 4x15
Pulldown Abs - 4x10
