Well, today was totally TARFU.  I didn't do anything that was good and the more I tried, the worse things got.  This led to a frustrating training day overall, but it wasn't completely worthless as I do think I learned a couple things about what happens when I totally Cronenberg up some events that I can take and use to do better next time.

Yoke Press

3" axle warmups:

complex x 35

complex x 125

4x175

switch to yoke:

2x2x250 - Wow, these felt and were awful.

2x3x250 - The last set everything finally felt like I was starting to hit my groove, but then I tweaked my neck on the 3rd rep and just said sod it.  I was just doing this for some overhead variation and it's not worth totally jacking myself up just for funsies.

Yoke

100' x 250

100' x 450 - This was stupidly fast, but I would never have known if I were just going by feel.  This is why training moving events without either a timer or video so you can go back and take your time after the fact is a very limiting way to train - no good way to measure progress.

2x100' x 650 - Waaaaaaaay slow.  Too slow.  Both runs were over 20 sec, which is completely unacceptable for such a light weight and also I was passing out on the first run.  On both I was reported to have been listing lazily to the left, even though I felt like I was going straight.  The second run was a couple seconds faster, but still super slow and twisted (apparently).  I'm going to attribute this to needing to add some mobility work for the right side of my trunk to my warmup.  Even though I do think I learned something from this, it was massively frustrating, especially since I was about 5 sec faster than this with this same weight and distance last time I did longer distance yoke runs and I had actually planned to go up heavier, but changed the plan when my last warmup ended up being completely terrible.

Yoke Zercher Carry

2x100' x 450 - Both runs awful.  No drops, but slow and stumbling sideways and the yoke was slipping down my right arm the first run and down my left on the second run.  It was time to go after this because everything I touched turned to dookie and continuing in the face of a mountain of excrement is a recipe for disaster unless absolutely necessary.
