In the wake of winning Maryland's Strongest Man this year I really didn't feel particularly beat up, much to the surprise of those who have asked me.  I know it's different for powerlifters and to a lesser extent weightlifters, since the format of their competitions is usually different than the structure of their training.  For me though, most of the time training is harder than competition in terms of volume, intensity, or both.  This is not the way it has always been of course.  After my third competition when I had to do a deadlift event for max reps with 500, I thought my low back was going to rip in half at any moment for about the next 10 days.  This is just one of many examples in strength sports of how your body can and will adjust to the demands you place on it given enough time and proper incremental increases.  So while I was only a little sore in my anterior tibiali (tibialises?)  and hip flexors for about a day afterward, I still had to rearrange my training schedule for this week due to my exam schedule for school.  Next week I'll be able to get back on my normal schedule for the end of this training block though.

Squats felt pretty good tonight.  Not great because my warmups were kind of inconsistent, but the heavier sets were all pretty good.  I honestly felt like I probably could have kept going up, but I didn't want to push it too far since I got rocked up the terror pipe by a wretched exam on Tuesday and my stress levels were off the charts, plus I should have a strong log C&P in me this weekend based on how my training went, and I didn't want to sod that up by squatting until I got stapled to the floor.
