Again, another incredibly productive workout. This was a hell of a session and it tested me mentally and physically.

I am not one to calculate total volume but it was most certainly up there. However, I was reminded of a status Alex Viada made a while back, probably citing some article about consistency or motivation.

He stated, and this is rough remembrance, that athletes who choose to not cut corners in training, and continue to do all prescribed exercises/warm ups/whatever have a much easier time NOT GIVING UP or backing away when faced with the actual time of competition.

When I am in my gym, and when I plan to go home to my own house and my little family, I am in a purely comforting environment. If I choose to back away, and cut a set, or a rep, or accessory work it will be much easier for me to back away from what is necessary to do my best on competition day, or cut a weight cut short, or play it reserved when it requires an all in approach.

Ultimately, the work done day by day and session by session, makes the work expected to be done in performance that much easier.

We do hard shit, to make the hard shit, easier.
